Infrastructure and bunkering challenges for selected fuels

Objective

To assess infrastructure and bunkering challenges for selected fuels, hubs, and corridors as potential ways of overcoming barriers.

Approach

Firstly, assessing infrastructure and bunkering challenges for each identified fuel, using a value chain approach covering production, distribution, and bunkering as well as safety aspects. Secondly, integrating the supply side (from this Task) with the demand side (from Task 2-A) to identify potential hubs and corridors as potential ways of overcoming barriers.

Delivery

Infrastructure and bunkering challenges assessed, relevant green hubs and corridors proposed.

Alternative Fuels Insight (AFI) by DNV:

DNV provides a continuously updated global overview of availability of bunkering solutions for each alternative fuel. The database includes a free version in addition to paid premium access for more detailed statistics. In Q1 of 2023 the platform will also incorporate global production capacity for each relevant fuel, also detailing when the planned production might become available for the maritime industry.
